File Setup
Color Mode

Your file MUST be in CMYK format (cyan, magenta, yellow, black). We will not be responsible for color changes if your file was submitted in RGB (red, green, blue) format (they will be dramatic).

In Photoshop open your file then choose Image > Mode > CMYK Color. Save file. This will convert your file to CMYK.

Use grayscale for backs that are one color (example: 4/1).

Resolution

Your resolution should be set to a minimum of 300 DPI (dots per inch). Typically, the more dots per inch (higher resolution) the sharper the resulting image. Most products have a maximum resolution of 450 DPI. Your file size will increase as the DPI increases.

Using a low resolution, like 72 DPI will result in a fuzzy printed image. 72 DPI is a typical screen resolution. This means that images may look sharp on your screen but will look poor if printed.

Accepted File Types

.psd - Adobe Photoshop (flattened files)
.eps - Encapsulated Post Script
.pdf - Portable Document Format (Adobe Acrobat)
.tif - Tagged Image File Format (flattened files)
.jpg - Joint Photographers Experts Group
.ai - Adobe Illustrator (outline fonts)

Bleeds

Bleeds are the area of your file that go off the edge of your actual file size. We recommend an 1/8" (0.125") bleed on all sides (1/16" or 0.062" minimum). For instance, a business card is 2" x 3.5", your file should be set to 2.25" x 3.75" including bleeds.

In addition, there is also a safe margin of 1/8" on the inside of your artwork. This is an imaginary line/border that we do not recommend contain text. Images, text, logos, etc. have the possibility to be cut off during trimming.

Fonts

Fonts within unflattened artwork must be outlined. This is will ensure that your artwork will print the way you expect. Flattening your artwork in Photoshop will also accomplish this. In Illustrator, select all your text then click the menu Type > Create Outlines.
